Lower root extractions come with their own set of access challenges. The mandibular arch sits below the clinician’s direct sightline, patients can have limited mouth opening, and the dense cortical bone of the mandible means instruments need to seat and hold their position reliably before force is applied. The NES-863 addresses that environment directly. It is a Kopp pattern elevator with a 4.2 mm working blade, oriented and adapted for lower root elevation across both the anterior and posterior mandible.
The 4.2 mm blade width gives the working end enough surface area to engage broad lower root faces without the tip walking or deflecting under load. This is the version of the Kopp pattern within our dental root elevator range that is specifically suited to the mandible, where root morphology often includes flattened mesiodistal dimensions and denser surrounding bone than in the upper arch.
Working with a wider blade in the lower jaw also helps where initial access is tight. The 4.2 mm tip maintains a stable purchase on the root surface through the full elevation stroke, reducing the need for repeated repositioning that can tire the clinician and increase the risk of slippage toward adjacent structures.
The NES-863 handles a range of lower arch cases well:
Periodontal ligament separation before lower anterior and premolar extraction
Broad lower root elevation where a wider blade contact improves control
Mandibular molar root elevation after sectioning in surgical extractions
Atraumatic extraction preparation in sites planned for future implants
Retained lower root removal in cases with moderate surgical access
Manufactured from German stainless steel, the NES-863 withstands repeated autoclaving and maintains its blade geometry over extended clinical use. Add it to your mandibular extraction tray today.
