The NES-903 is a small bayonet elevator with an “out” offset, a shaft design that shifts the working tip away from the handle’s centerline rather than keeping it in direct line with the grip. That offset changes the ergonomics of posterior access significantly, letting the clinician approach molars and other back-of-the-mouth sites without the handle blocking the view of the working tip.
A straight-shaft elevator can put the operator’s hand and forearm directly in the sightline when working on posterior teeth, forcing awkward wrist angles just to see what the tip is doing.
